Samsung has mounted a challenge with relish in the past. Its i600, specifically, was much slimmer than the BlackBerry handsets, included fast 3G data speeds and had a digital camera, but its keyboard failed the usability litmus test, and its simple five-way navigation key was nothing special either. And it’s taking up the challenge again with the i780 – the latest evolution in Samsung’s canon of keyboard-below-screen handsets.

The Samsung i780 is a single device to enjoy full access to Outlook and MS Office including Excel, Power point and Word files. It acts like a Pocket PC (Viewer & Editor) and provides full mobility to users. The optical mouse allows immediate, intuitive access to your most frequently used functions in seconds.User enjoys the comfort in using mouse like the key used in your PC. It lets you you roam all over the screen faster.

Allows Windows Chat / Live Search / Push Mail. It delivers mails as they arrive into your inbox. Also it helps Read HTML E mail. A keypad that knows when to shine and when to lay low. An innovative touch keypad with a sleek design lights up when in use and turns off when not, maintaining a clean, uncluttered look. Oozing cool in both form and function. Access a world of music. Enjoy listening to music on the multi format music player of Samsung i780

The Samsung i780 is Quad-band, supports Bluetooth, USB plays videos files and even has a 2 Megapixel camera built-in. Expand the standard 150 Mb memory with the MicroSD. Also a VGA camera is present for video conferencing. Connect like never before, no wires attached, with Bluetooth. Transfer your files faster, without hassle and with greater ease. Enjoy content on headsets, speakers and other peripheral devices. It’s all about options.

Consumers have the freedom to choose navigation application provider and maps as per requirement. GPS means never getting lost.Find the nearest ATM / Petrol Station on one click. 24/7 Internet access in a Wi-Fi Spot.

This latest handset (provided by Orange) adds some interesting innovations to the rather basic design of the i600, the most obvious of which is that, instead of the fiddly five-way navigation key, it has what can only be described as a track button. Like the track pad on a notebook, you move your thumb or finger around on top of this small, square key to control an on-screen cursor, and press it to select items or click links.

No word on pricing and availibility yet.

Givori, a leading brand well known for its wierd looking pricey products had launched another such phone, The limited edition Nefertiti. Inspired by the ancient Egyptian queen Nefertiti, who was known for her beauty, the Nefertiti phone hopes to remind us of the mystery of a bygone era. The Givori “Nefertiti” Nokia Arte phone features vintage ‘30s collectibles made in England and 24 carat gold coated Swarovski crystals. All the phones in the Nefertiti collection have been handcrafted to make sure that no two phones look alike. Only 50 units have been created, with each one marked with a limited edition number. Givori Brand Manager Amine Aoude said”We have a dedicated core of glamorous customers who like to have the most up-to-date style items, and this extends to the look of their mobile phones. The limited edition Nefertiti phone caters to these exuberant tastes.”

But again, the design of the phones resembles that of the previously launched Serendipity phone. The limited edition Nefertiti phone is available in luxury stores in Dubai for US equivalent of approximately $4440.

Gresso Company is proud to introduce a true breakthrough collection – Avantgarde Skeleton. Gresso Skeleton is a great innovation in mobile phone design, made in a limited edition of just 15 pieces. For the new model Gresso drew inspiration from complicated Swiss Skeleton watches, which allow to view the complete movement of the piece in all its perfection. Similarly to that of Skeleton watches the back panel of the new model is executed of hand-polished sapphire crystal of 42K. In creating the Avantgarde Skeleton, Gresso employed the outstanding traditions of watchmaking and jewelry art, as well as achievements of aero-space technologies.

Gresso allows no compromises between luxury and functionality. This model Royal White Diamonds is destinated for those who have achieved everything and are accustomed to make great demands of life. The gadget is provided with Windows Mobile 6 Standard, 2 Gb memory, SMS/MMS/e-mail, Internet explorer, Outlook, WAP 2.0, GPRS, Bluetooth, USB-port, mini-USB, PC Synchronization, voice recorder, MP3-player, 2 MP camera.

The case of the phone is executed of special titanium alloy which has been used originally in space industry only. Titanium is known as a metal, which combines hardness and immutability with extreme lightness. It has the virtues of being hypo-allergenic and resistant to temperature and corrosion, but it requires a very much more complex specialist surface finishing process.
The unique feature of Gresso Avantgarde Skeleton is the scratch- proof high-tech ceramic coverage. This is the material of which the high temperature protection on spaceships is made. Ceramics’ solidity is second to that of diamond only.

Gresso Avantgarde Skeleton is limited to 15 pieces, will cost $5,000, and is available from tommorow.

This is what Blackberry says about its new BlackBerry® Curve™ 8320 smartphone,”it’s your connection to everything that matters”. Featuring a metallic finish, clean lines and soft edges, the BlackBerry® Curve™ 8320 smartphone is the smallest and lightest BlackBerry® smartphone ever to come with a full QWERTY keyboard.

It still offers a best-of-breed design that beautifully combines a full QWERTY keyboard into a sleek and compact form factor (4.2 inches high by 2.4 inches wide by 0.6 inch deep; 3.9 ounces). With such a slim profile and small weight, the Curve is comfortable to hold and use as a phone, even though it has a wider body than regular cell phones. The outer edges also have a soft-touch finish to give it a rubbery texture, thus making it easier to grip. Unlike the AT&T version, T-Mobile offers two color options: pale gold or titanium.

On front of the device, there’s a 2.5-inch diagonal, 65,000-color screen with a 320×240 pixel resolution. The display features a light-sensing technology that automatically adjusts the backlighting of the screen as well as the keyboard, based on your environment (indoors, outdoors, a dark room, and so forth). In addition, you can customize the screen with various themes and wallpaper, as well as adjust the font size, family, and style.

The camera lens, flash, and self-portrait mirror are on the back of the device, and a mute button is located on top. The Curve is equipped with a microSD slot, but it’s located behind the battery, so it’s a bit inconvenient to access. T-Mobile ships the RIM BlackBerry 8320 with a travel charger, a USB cable, a wired stereo headset, a belt holster, and reference material. For more BlackBerry add-ons and downloads, check out our cell phone accessories page.

The RIM BlackBerry 8320’s biggest draw is the addition of Wi-Fi. It supports 802.11b/g, whether you’re using your home or corporate network or hopping onto a Wi-Fi hot spot. The Curve also works with T-Mobile’s HotSpot@Home, which lets you make and receive calls using both regular GSM cellular networks and preconfigured wireless networks. The benefit of this is that calls made via Wi-Fi will not be deducted from your cellular plan, meaning you get unlimited calls as long as you’re within range of the hot spot.

Other wireless options include EDGE and Bluetooth. Supported Bluetooth profiles include those for wireless headsets, hands-free kits, dial-up networking, object exchange, and A2DP for stereo Bluetooth headsets. Unlike the BlackBerry 8820, however, the Curve doesn’t include a GPS radio. Instead, you will have to take advantage of the device’s integrated Bluetooth and add this functionality via a Bluetooth GPS receiver.

The BlackBerry 8320 is compatible with your company’s BlackBerry Enterprise server with support for Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino, or Novell GroupWise to deliver corporate e-mail in real time. In total, the device can support as many as 10 accounts, including POP3 or IMAP4 e-mail accounts, and there is an e-mail wizard on the device to guide you through the setup process. An attachment viewer is also onboard to open popular file formats, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Corel WordPerfect, PDF, JPEG, GIF, and more, and we were able to receive and open all files. Other messaging options include text, multimedia, and instant messaging. Of the latter, we were thrilled that T-Mobile included access to some of the most popular IM clients today, such as AIM, Yahoo, and Windows Live Messenger.

Like the original Curve, the BlackBerry 8320 has a spell-check feature for e-mails. As you would expect, the feature will look for any spelling errors in your messages before they’re sent and offer alternatives to misspelled words. Spell-check is also available for memos, but not for text messages. You can turn this feature on under the Options > Spell Check menu, where you can also find settings to ignore acronyms, words with numbers, add words to a custom dictionary, and more.

There are a number of PIM tools, such as a calendar, a tasks list, a memo pad, an alarm, a calculator, and the BlackBerry maps application. The latter is particularly useful, as it gives you maps of the United States as well as text-based driving directions–great for mobile professionals

There is a media player onboard that supports MP3, AAC, MIDI, and WAV music files and AVI, MP4, MOV, and 3GP video formats. There’s 64MB of flash memory, but you should store multimedia files on a microSD card since they tend to be memory hogs. The music player is pretty rudimentary, but it displays some track information such as title, artist, and album art, and you can create playlists as well as shuffle and repeat songs. You can have music play in the background while you use the device’s other apps, and if there’s an incoming call, the Curve will pause the music, then resume the track after you hang up. One notable improvement to the video player is the support for full-screen mode, so you can take advantage of the entire screen’s real estate. The 3.5-millimeter headset jack is also a boost, since it gives you the ability to plug in a better set of headphones or earbuds.

The BlackBerry 8320 boasts a 2-megapixel camera with a 5x zoom and a built-in flash, but unfortunately, still no video-recording capabilities. You do get three picture sizes (1,600×1,200; 1,024×768; and 640×480) and three quality options (superfine, fine, and normal). You can also tweak the white balance and add color effects. Picture quality was good when we could get a clear shot. We found it a bit difficult to get steady shot and had to really concentrate on holding the phone still in order to get a decent photo. Once we did, however, pictures had decent color tone and definition.

Motorola’s recent cell phone releases have won high marks. Moto’s latest handset, the V750 for Verizon Wireless, offers many of the same benefits we saw on its immediate predecessors–its design is user-friendly, the call quality is dependable and the feature is promising with gems like push to talk and EV-DO Rev.

The aforementioned external display measures a generous 1.6 inches and supports 65,000 colors. It shows all the information you need including the date, time, battery life, and signal strength. It also functions as a viewfinder for the camera and it shows photo caller ID. You can’t change the short backlighting time but a quick flick of the volume rocker will activate the screen again. If so desired, you can choose one of the included wallpaper choices as well.

Below the display are the external music controls. As expected you can activate the player and control your music without ever opening the phone. You will like that the keys have some texture and that you get a firm “push” feeling when you press a button. Above the display is the tiny camera lens. Unfortunately, there’s no flash.

Completing the exterior of the phone is a number of side-mounted controls. There’s a volume rocker and a push-to-talk (PTT) key on the left spine and a voice dialing button and a handset locking/speakerphone control on the right spine. The V750 uses a micro-USB port for charging; the port is located on the left spine below the PTT control. For audio, the 2.5mm headset jack is back on the right spine. We were quite impressed with the V750’s speakers, which span its full bottom end. Not only are they conveniently located but they also have impressive output. Yet, we were disappointed by the V750’s microSD card slot behind the battery cover.

The internal display measures 2.2 inches (320×240 pixels). Though we’re happy with its size, we were hoping for a higher color resolution of more than 65,000 hues. It’s perfectly bright and colorful, but it’s not as sharp as a phone of this caliber deserves. On the upside, Verizon Wireless has finally updated its convoluted menu interface. Everything is more or less in the same place, but the headings have been changed to more intuitive terms. For example, the music player, camera, and Web browser are now located in a “Multimedia” menu. You can change a few of the display’s options, including the backlighting time, the dialing font size, and the brightness.

The V750’s controls and keypad buttons are well-designed. They’re quite tactile, as they’re raised above the surface of the phone and covered in a rubbery material. The four-way toggle surrounds a central OK button. It can be set as a shortcut to four user-defined features. You’ll also find two soft keys, a clear key, a camera/camcorder shortcut, and the Talk and End power keys. The keypad buttons are equally spacious and easy to use. The numbers on the keys are large, but the corresponding letters are tiny and the backlighting is a tad dim.

The V750 has a 1,000-contact phone book with room in each entry for five phone numbers, two e-mail addresses, and notes. You can organize contacts into caller groups and pair them with a photo or one of 20 polyphonic ringtones or alert tones. There’s a separate phone book for PTT contacts that also allows you to set caller groups and you can designate three as “in case of emergency” numbers. Other essentials include a vibrate mode, call timers, text and multimedia messaging, call recoding, a calculator, a calendar, an alarm clock, a world clock, a notepad, a voice recorder, and a speakerphone. On the higher end, you’ll find Web-based e-mail and instant messaging, USB mass storage, PC syncing, speaker-independent voice commands, and full Bluetooth with a stereo profile.

A V750 would cost you around $99 with service.

Motorola launched a Stylish and sleek piece of technology, the new AURA. Finally a handset that looks different from the box type iPhones and Nokias.

Encased in stainless steel housing, the AURA has textures and patterns chemically etched into its surface. The Swiss-made main bearing, gears composed of Rockwell 50-55 hardened steel and 130 precision ball bearings work in tandem to drive the assisted-opening blade. Motorola likens the effect to that of opening a luxury car door rather than accessing a mobile device. Its custom-engineered rotating mechanism is composed of more than 200 high-precision individual parts, and the gears are protected from harsh conditions with the same coatings used in high-performance racing engines.

The AURA has the FIRST EVER circular LCD display with colours and 300 dpi resolution and a Grade 1, 62-carat sapphire crystal lens.It also features Motorola’s CrystalTalk technology and stereo Bluetooth.

“AURA is Motorola’s latest endeavour into the high-tier mobile device space and is the result of our continued inspiration to innovate in design, imagination and state-of-the-art handcraftsmanship,” said Jim Wicks, corporate vice president and director of Consumer Experience Design, Mobile Devices, Motorola. “From the moment AURA owners hold their phones they elevate their own experience in luxury and unmatched quality.”

The handset will be available from January 2009 and No word on the pricing yet but it will be a little steep.
