Here comes a mouse from cyber sport that doesnt seem so, the Orbita mouse is an intriguing new product that embraces three different technologies: the wireless computer mouse; the scroll wheel and the digital compass. It’s a is circular, donut-like device that communicates with a wireless docking station connected via USB to a computer.

Instead of right and left buttons, the Orbita has two button ‘zones’, in the form of switches all around its edge, and an area outlined by a dashed grey line on its top. There’s a third button that doubles as an indent for scrolling that ensures the user’s finger doesn’t slip off mid-shuttle. All three can be set to control what would be the right, left or centre buttons on a standard mouse, using included software that works on PC and Mac. However, the Orbita works as a basic mouse straight out of the box in most cases without the need for the software.

At its most basic level, you can move it up and down and left and right on a flat surface, just as you can with any other pointing device. But when it’s stationary, the device can be rotated like a scroll wheel, and numerous functions in software — from web browsers to DAW applications — can be controlled.

But where does the digital compass come into it? Well, because the device can be spun, it needs to be constantly oriented in relation to the computer, so that ‘up’ is always ‘up’ even when the mouse has been spun 180 degrees. An arrow button on the top of the Orbita is used to re-calibrate the virtual North of the on-board compass.

Cyber Sport say that the Orbita will be available to purchase on-line in January.

Leather has been associated with luxury for many tens of years, whether we’re thinking about furniture or the automotive industry; but lately, it has entered the world of gadgets as well, and it looks like people (or at least designers) really dig it. And the leather-covered computer keyboard from Japan comes in the spotlight to prove that leather can actually go places most of us never thought it could. Each of the keys has been carefully wrapped in black leather, granting a smooth feeling as you type. Now, a small problem rises: there are no labels on the keys, but some lettering and numbering embossed in leather, which means that you should have serious QWERTY skills if you’re planning to work with this luxurious keyboard. The markings aren’t painted and this could be a major problem in less-than-perfect lighting conditions. And that’s with the upgraded version of the Gokukawa Leather Keyboard; because the basic model has absolutely no markings and could make typing, not to mention productivity and the likes, a really adventurous experience.

Now, it’s true that this Gokukawa Leather Keyboard looks out of the ordinary and isn’t a gadget you meet everyday. Yet, if you like the feel of leather at your fingertips and plan to lay some cash on it, be prepared for an out-of-the-ordinary price as well, as the basic model of the Gokukawa Leather Keyboard will set you back some $548.

NZXT is hoping to make a splash with its first-ever gaming peripheral. The Avatar from NZXT has both the style and design we’re looking for, so let’s see if it lives up to the rest of our expectations. You might be surprised to hear that NZXT has a keen interest in diving into the peripheral market, and we can see proof of this with their first product, the Avatar gaming mouse. This mouse offers gaming flexibility as well as great comfort, all in one package. With all of the great first-person shooters recently released, the Avatar is definitely worth looking into, especially if you’re thinking about a replacement for your current mouse.

One of the first things you might notice when you first see the Avatar is how much it resembles something from the product line of Razer. From the sleek shape and lettering on the box, you know this mouse was inspired by the competition, but that’s not a bad thing. If you’re going to break into the gaming peripheral business, why not examine the design and style of one of the more notable companies out there?

Overall, the Avatar is a great-looking product. The mouse features a solid black design with silver accent side-buttons, along with neon blue trim lights. It’s equipped with a total of seven programmable buttons which include the left and right buttons, left and right side silver buttons and a scroll wheel with two programmable buttons underneath it. This sleek mouse fits nicely into the cup of your hand, which as well which reminds me a lot of the Death Adder mouse by Razer.

This ergonomic ambidextrous design allows both right and left-handed people to use the mouse comfortably, although just how comfortable it is for lefties is something always up for debate. Rubber coating also helps keep the mouse firmly gripped in your hand. It also has Teflon pads for feet underneath the mouse which allows for air hockey like gliding on a smooth surface.

The Avatar features a sharp and stylish design, and is somewhat affordable, at around $59.99. This could be considered inexpensive, though, considering the features built into the mouse.
